Underground Existence is a living archive of Chicago house & techno mixtapes — recorded in basements, lofts and clubs, and preserved forever on the permaweb.

Est. 2007. What started as a crew of Chicago DJs trading tapes and recordings became a catalog of the city's underground — acid, house, techno and everything between, mixed live by the residents who lived it.

Archived in permanence. Every mix on this site is stored on Arweave, a permanent, decentralized storage network. There is no server to shut down and no host to disappear — each recording is written to the permaweb and served from it directly. This site itself is deployed the same way.

Play-only by design. Mixes stream straight from the permaweb. Press play, let it run — the waveform tracks your progress through the tape.
